I am a faculty member (Akademischer Rat) of the department of philosophy of the University of Cologne, where I was also awarded my habilitation (venia legendi in philosophy). Before that, I received my PhD in philosophy from the University of Düsseldorf under joint supervision at LMU Munich. My area of expertise is within epistemology and the philosophy of science, where I am particularly interested in problems of social epistemology, machine learning, and inductive as well as abductive inference. My area of competence covers the theory of definition, logic and argumentation, and history of analytic philosophy. I am editor-in-chief of KRITERION — Journal of Philosophy, and PI of the DFG-funded research project Rudolf Carnap, the Problem of Induction, and the Choice of Scientific Frameworks.
